Advanced Topics in EHS: Respiratory Toxicology
PDF Brochure — available September 24, 2017
Course Description and Objectives
The Advanced Topics in EHS series of courses were designed to expand on topics that are introduced in the basic SCHC courses. The topic of respiratory toxicology was introduced in the SCHC course Toxicology for Hazard Communication.
The goal of this course is to provide an understanding of the toxicology of the respiratory system. Emphasis is placed on an understanding of normal respiratory function and how chemicals can interact with and disrupt these functions. Participants will gain an appreciation for the technical skills and background necessary to develop, evaluate, and/or apply hazard determinations and classifications involving chemicals or mixtures with the potential to cause adverse effects of the respiratory system.
This is an advanced course. While there are no formal prerequisites for this course, it is strongly recommended that participants have a working knowledge of SDS and labels and that they have either taken the SCHC course Toxicology for Hazard Communication or that they are comfortable with the basic principles of toxicology.
Intended Audience
Hazard communication professionals looking to expand their understanding of specific topics in toxicology and/or sharpening their hazard determination and risk assessment skills.
