University Relations Special Committee

Charter

In March of 2013 at a strategic planning session, the SCHC Board of Directors (Board) identified engaging students and the academic community as a strategic priority.  The intended purpose of this engagement was to interest students in SCHC and the practice of chemical hazard communication, and to foster scholarly activity in chemical hazard communication.  To this end, the Board formed the Ad Hoc Committee of the Board for University Relations.  In order to expand the membership of this committee beyond the Board, this committee was subsequently designated the Special Committee of the Board for University Relations (University Relations Committee).

Thus, the charter of the University Relations Committee is to engage students and the academic community, and to foster interest and scholarly activity in chemical hazard communication by focusing on the following three activities:

  • Sponsoring scholarly activity in chemical hazard communication through grants
  • Lecturing on chemical hazard communication in graduate and undergraduate courses
  • Presenting chemical hazard communication as a career path at university job fairs
