Course Description and Objectives

This course will outline the key requirements of CLP with respect to hazard communication and highlight the differences with Hazcom 2012. Practical exercises will be held throughout the course to reinforce the learning.

Intended Audience

It is assumed that delegates will have a working understanding of the GHS classification, labelling and safety data sheet requirements in the U.S..

Gill Pagliuca

Gill Pagliuca has worked in chemical safety for more than 30 years, providing consultancy services including classification and preparation of safety data sheets for a wide range of customers and products. Gill runs the CHCS modules on classification of substances and mixtures. She is also the current Chair of the CHCS.

  • Introduction to EU/GB Regulations for chemicals - - how REACH, CLP and other chemical regulations fit together
    • Overview and scope of the CLP Regulation
    • Roles and obligations
    • Harmonised classifications in Annex VI of CLP and the GB MCL
      • How and when CLP is updated in the EU and GB
  • Review of, and differences between, the EU/GB and US classification criteria for physical hazards, health hazards and environmental hazards
